Serverpod 4 - Public beta

Serverpod 4 will take you from idea to production in record time. You can build a full app with authentication, database, real-time communication, and deploy it to the cloud in less than 15 minutes. Serverpod is not a toy. It allows you to build real apps running with native performance. They can integrate easily with native code and UI components. Serverpod is used worldwide by app agencies, banks, in the medical industry, and even by governments.

Together with Serverpod 4, we are bundling a set of AI agent skills and an MCP server that instantly turns your agent into a senior Serverpod developer. But Serverpod is much more than just a backend framework. It’s a full runtime for your API server, database, and app. With the new serverpod start command, Serverpod will run and manage your full stack. When changes are detected, they are immediately hot-reloaded. Database migrations are applied while the server is running. Thanks to our powerful code generation and end-to-end type safety, you and your AI agent will need to write less code, saving valuable time and tokens.

While the hot reload and agentic coding abilities are our largest new features, Serverpod 4 is a major release, it's bringing over a hundred new features, including support for a wide variety of social sign-ins, geography types in the database, an improved web server, a client-side database, dynamic types in models, improved future calls, and much, much more. We are also working on a full offline-first sync engine that did not make it into the beta, but will be part of the stable release.
